Abstract

The article investigates linguocultural significance of toponyms, i.e. names of geographical places. Toponyms are regarded as linguoculturemes that include not only linguistic meaning, but also the cultural sense. It is due to the fact that toponyms represent different religious and mythological views, national legends, historical facts reflecting culture of a certain linguoculture.
